The Position
Information Technology (IT) Professionals analyze, develop, implement, maintain, and modify computer operations, systems, networks, databases, applications, and/or information security. Incumbents may perform duties in one or more IT specialization areas depending on the needs of the agency.
The Division of Welfare and Supportive Services (DWSS) is recruiting for a programmer with a Java, JSP, J2EE skill set who has the capacity to perform advanced journey level project management. This position will be located in Carson City or Las Vegas depending on the candidate selected and the needs of the agency. The incumbent will be responsible for serving as a project leader whose duties include overseeing software modification projects, coordinating those projects with other work groups and documenting the means by which to maintain those projects. DWSS is in the midst of a multi-phased conversion to enhance access to a mainframe-based legacy DB2 database with new applications based upon the Spring MVC/Spring Batch J2EE and AspectJ frameworks using the Eclipse IDE, the Spring Tool Suite and Maven. Other heavily COTS products that DWSS uses are IBM Filenet, IBM DataCap and Thunderhead. Our Software Version Repositories are SVN & Perforce. To Qualify:
In order to be qualified, you must meet the following requirements:
Education and Experience (Minimum Qualifications)
    Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university with major course work in computer science, management information systems, or closely related field and three years of progressively responsible professional IT experience relevant to the duties of the position which may include computer operations, systems administration, network administration, database administration, applications analyst and development, and/or information security, one year of which was at the journey level; OR one year of relevant experience as an IT Professional II in Nevada State service; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Special Requirements
    A pre-employment criminal history check and fingerprinting are required. Persons offered employment in this position will be required to pay for these items.
    A State of Nevada/FBI background check will be required of the selected applicant. Persons offered employment in this position will be required to pay for these items.
