The Position
Custodial Workers perform general cleaning services to State facilities using various cleaning equipment and materials to provide a safe, hygienic and orderly work environment.
Incumbents possess a degree of knowledge and proficiency sufficient to perform advanced-level work and may provide work direction and training to others.
This position is assigned to UNLV Facilities Management, and is responsible for providing all aspects of custodial services on the UNLV Main & Paradise Campuses. Emphasis will be placed on floor care knowledge and skill with equipment, as well as flexibility in work assignments. In the absence of the supervisor, incumbents serve as lead workers or custodial crew supervisors for the purposes of work assignment; train and review completed tasks performed by subordinate custodial workers; and keep an inventory of equipment and supplies needed. This is the leadworker class in the series. DUTY HOURS: This recruitment will be used to fill multiple current and future vacancies. Applicants should declare their availability to work any specific or all of the following positions / shifts: Night shift cleaning crew: 6:00 PM - 2:30 AM M-F Night shift project crew: 6:00 PM - 2:30 AM M-F Night shift cleaning crew (Lied Library): 8:30 PM - 5:00 AM M-F Day shift cleaning crew: 8:30 AM - 5:00 PM M-F EEO/AA/Vet/Disability Employer

To Qualify:
In order to be qualified, you must meet the following requirements:
Education and Experience (Minimum Qualifications)
    Graduation from high school or equivalent education and one year of custodial or janitorial experience in a commercial, industrial, hospital, governmental or similar environment; OR six months as a Custodial Worker I in Nevada State service; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Special Notes
    As part of the hiring process, applicants for positions in the Nevada System of Higher Education may be required to demonstrate the ability to perform job-related tasks.
Special Requirements
    A valid driver's license is required at the time of appointment and as a condition of continuing employment.
Skills Required
    This recruitment is open only to persons who have been employed for at least six months of continuous full-time equivalent classified state service and are currently employed with UNLV.
