Highway Equipment Mechanics maintain, repair, and modify medium (GVWR 10,500-26,000 lbs.) and heavy (GVWR greater than 26,000 lbs.) highway maintenance and construction equipment.
Incumbents possess a degree of knowledge and proficiency sufficient to perform work independently with little or no additional training.
This position is located in District III, Winnemucca. This position repairs and maintains all gasoline, diesel and electrical equipment; cooling, hydraulic systems, transmissions, drive-line differentials and brake systems on all highway maintenance equipment; design, fabricate, weld mechanical apparatus and conducts call-outs to remote areas to provide emergency repairs.

In order to be qualified, you must meet the following requirements:

Completion of a recognized automotive/equipment repair apprenticeship program; OR completion of the Equipment Mechanic-in-Training program in Nevada State service; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience. |

A valid Class A or B Nevada commercial driver's license is required within six months of the date of appointment and as a condition of continuing employment. |
|
Incumbent is required to furnish their own mechanic's tools. |

Pursuant to NRS 284.4066, this position has been identified as affecting public safety. Persons offered employment in this position must submit to a pre-employment screening for controlled substances. In addition, federal law requires random testing for controlled substances during employment. |

Experience repairing heavy duty equipment (GVWR greater than 26,000 lbs.). |
