The Position
Administrative Assistants perform a broad variety of clerical, secretarial and administrative support duties in an assigned agency, program or other work unit within State government and the Nevada System of Higher Education.
This position is located in Yerington Nevada. The incumbent will be responsible for providing clerical support to staff to include; greeting and directing visitors, answering telephone calls, processing/distributing mail, monitoring and ordering office supplies, maintaining files, making travel arrangements, and scheduling meetings and appointments. The Nevada DIVISION OF CHILD AND FAMILY SERVICES (DCFS), together in genuine partnership with families, communities and other governmental agencies, provides support and services to assist Nevada's children and families in reaching their full human potential. DCFS recognizes that Nevada's families are our future and children, youth and families thrive when they live in safe permanent settings, experience a sense of sustainable emotional and physical wellbeing, and receive support to consistently make positive choices for family and the common good. DCFS utilizes a family centered model in delivering services that is focused on engaging children, families and the family team, and encouraging their participation in decisions. DCFS programs include child protective and welfare service delivery in rural Nevada and oversight of urban county-operated child protective and welfare services, children's mental/behavioral health treatment and residential services (outpatient and inpatient acute) in urban Nevada, and statewide juvenile justice services including state-operated youth training centers and youth parole. DCFS is an extremely complex organization with incredibly dedicated and professional staff that are committed to the Nevada children and families we serve!

To Qualify:
In order to be qualified, you must meet the following requirements:
Education and Experience (Minimum Qualifications)
    Graduation from high school or equivalent education and one year of clerical experience which included experience in one or more of the following areas: maintaining records, answering telephones, and reviewing forms, documents and other written materials; OR six months of experience as an Administrative Aid in Nevada State service; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience.

    As part of the hiring process, applicants for positions in the Nevada System of Higher Education may be required to demonstrate the ability to perform job-related tasks.

    A pre-employment criminal history check and fingerprinting are required. Persons offered employment in this position will be required to pay for these items.

The exam will consist of a written weighted 100%.
