The Position
Child Care Workers assist in preschool programs designed for care of children and for stimulation of their social, emotional, academic, and physical development.
--This recruitment is a continuous recruitment for NSHE, Reno (UNR and TMCC) Child Care Worker 2 positions as they become available. These positions provide a quality setting for early childhood care and education. Duties include assuming lead teacher responsibility for care and education of children in an assigned group; encouraging and facilitating parent/family interaction in center programming; managing the classroom environment; and communicating effectively with other staff.
--The typical work schedule is varied; this is subject to change based on organizational needs. To Qualify:
In order to be qualified, you must meet the following requirements:
Education and Experience (Minimum Qualifications)
    One year of experience as a Child Care Worker I; OR graduation from high school and two years of experience working with small children in a preschool setting.
Special Notes
    As part of the hiring process, applicants for positions in the Nevada System of Higher Education may be required to demonstrate the ability to perform job-related tasks.
Special Requirements
    A State of Nevada/FBI background check will be required of the selected applicant.
    Pursuant to NRS 284.4066, this position has been identified as affecting public safety. Persons offered employment in this position must submit to a pre-employment screening for controlled substances.
Additional Position Criteria
    This position does not provide layoff rights and is contingent upon funding.
    This position requires having a valid driver's license at the time of appointment as a condition of continued employment.
    This position requires a current CPR and First Aid certifications at the time of hire and as a condition of employment.
    At the time of hire, this position requires providing proof of negative results on a tuberculosis test, within the previous two years.
    This position requires experience working with children ages 0-5 in a child care or educational setting.
The Examination

The exam will consist of an application evaluation. It is essential that applications include detailed information with time frames regarding education and experience. The most qualified applicants will be contacted by the hiring agency for interview. The hiring agency may require specific skills related testing as part of the interviewing process.
