Information Technology (IT) Professionals analyze, develop, implement, maintain, and modify computer operations, systems, networks, databases, applications, and/or information security. Incumbents may perform duties in one or more IT specialization areas depending on the needs of the agency.
Incumbents perform journey level duties and may serve as a lead worker to lower level IT staff as assigned.
This is a Software Developer position located in Carson City within the Department of Education. The incumbent must have experience in the following areas: ASP.Net web application development, Share Point development, SQL Database development, T-SQL or similar database programming language, and report writing experience using SQL Reporting Services. Experience and knowledge of additional programming languages and database systems will be a plus. The incumbent must also be conversant with all phases of software development lifecycle including requirements collection by conducting interviews, examining existing data systems, or similar research methods, developing prototypes, implementation of software modules, regular reviews with the user group, writing design documents and user manuals, deployment and testing of reports and software systems. As part of the job, incumbent will maintain and upgrade legacy applications and reports. Incumbent will be involved in new projects individually or in a team environment. The projects will range from small to large and complex. Incumbents may perform other duties in one or more IT specialization areas depending upon the needs of the agency. This position has statewide and out of state travel requirement of up to 25%.

Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university with major course work in computer science, management information systems, or closely related field and two years of progressively responsible professional IT experience relevant to the duties of the position which may include computer operations, systems administration, network administration, database administration, and/or applications analysis and development; OR two years of experience as an IT Professional I in Nevada State service; OR four years of relevant technical experience as an IT Technician IV or above in Nevada State service; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience. |

Experience with traditional software development lifecycle process and/or Agile development. |

Experience in ASP.NET web application development. |

Experience in writing SQL queries, functions, triggers, and stored procedures in T-SQL, PL/SQL or another database programming language. |
