The Position
Electronic Technician's perform work requiring the application of electronic principles and practices involving the installation, maintenance, calibration, repair, programming and modification of a variety of electronic and computerized equipment.
Incumbents possess a degree of knowledge and proficiency sufficient to perform work independently with little or no additional training.
This position performs skilled alarm system electronics work. Incumbent will be responsible for the following (but not limited to): install, inspect, test, repair, and modify building fire/security systems; install, inspect, test and repair smoke/heat detectors, fire/security system annunciating equipment, initiating and reporting devices and all associated hardware; perform skilled electronics work installing, maintaining, calibrating, repairing and modifying electronic computerized equipment; investigate and resolve fire/security alarms and trouble signals; troubleshoot, identify and address faulty components; ensure compliance with Local AHJ's, Department, University, Federal, State, and County regulations; work with and assist outside contractors; review blueprints/specifications; lay out projects in accordance with code requirements; purchase materials; and complete related duties as required. Work schedule is Monday-Friday 7:30am-4:00pm. EEO/AA/Vet/Disability Employer

To Qualify:
In order to be qualified, you must meet the following requirements:
Education and Experience (Minimum Qualifications)
    Associate's degree in electronics or closely related field from an accredited college or technical school and two years of experience performing electronic technician work involving the installation, maintenance, calibration, repair and modification of a variety of electrical and computerized equipment; OR two years of experience as an Electronics Technician I in Nevada State service; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Special Notes
    This position requires the State of Nevada certification for fire alarm 'F' card within 90 days of employment.
    As part of the hiring process, applicants for positions in the Nevada System of Higher Education may be required to demonstrate the ability to perform job-related tasks.
Special Requirements
    A valid driver's license is required at the time of appointment and as a condition of continuing employment.
Skills Required
    Incumbent must obtain Asbestos Abatement Worker Certification within 1 year of hire date, and must maintain license as condition of continued employment. Perform asbestos related work as needed.
