The Position
Museum Attendants assist visitors at museums and provide information and directions and perform routine security activities to ensure the safety of visitors and protect exhibits.
Incumbents possess a degree of knowledge and proficiency sufficient to perform advanced-level work and may provide work direction and training to others. THIS RECRUITMENT MAY CLOSE PRIOR TO THE POSTED CLOSING DATE. INTERESTED APPLICANTS ARE ENCOURAGED TO APPLY AS SOON AS POSSIBLE.
This is a position within the Department of Tourism and Cultural Affairs, the Division of Museums and History at the Nevada State Museum, Las Vegas. The Museum is located on the grounds of the Las Vegas Springs Preserve. Some holidays are required working days. Duties of the Museum Attendant II position at the Museum primarily involve interacting with the public at the Museum's front visitor entry. The Museum Attendant II opens and closes the Museum, assists visitors throughout the day, and maintains visitor statistics and surveys. In addition, the Museum Attendant II supports and assists the curatorial staff, exhibits staff, and security staff as needed.

To Qualify:
In order to be qualified, you must meet the following requirements:
Education and Experience (Minimum Qualifications)
    Graduation from high school or equivalent education and two years of experience working with the public both in person and on the telephone, which included operating a personal computer, providing information and preparing routine correspondence; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Special Requirements
    Working weekends and/or holidays is required.
    Working a Rotating/Flexible Schedule is required.
The Examination

The exam will consist of an application evaluation. It is essential that applications include detailed information with time frames regarding education and experience. The most qualified applicants will be contacted by the hiring agency for interview. The hiring agency may require specific skills related testing as part of the interviewing process.
