The Position
Buyers are responsible for the procurement of major goods, financing and services required by State agencies and political subdivisions.
--The University of Nevada, Reno is recruiting for a Buyer 2 for the Purchasing department. The incumbent will be responsible for conducting professional-level purchasing and contracting duties related to the acquisition of equipment, commodities, services, and construction. These duties include processing purchase orders and contracts; conducting bids and requests-for-proposals (RFPs); negotiating with vendors-contractors; and performing other duties as assigned.
--The typical work schedule is Monday through Friday from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm; this is subject to change based on organizational needs. This position does not provide lay-off rights and is contingent upon funding. To Qualify:
In order to be qualified, you must meet the following requirements:
Education and Experience (Minimum Qualifications)
    Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in business administration or closely related field and one year of professional experience in buying, specification writing or related professional purchasing responsibilities; OR graduation from high school or equivalent education and three years of purchasing experience, one year of which was at the professional level as described above; OR one year of experience as a Buyer I in Nevada State service; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience.

    As part of the hiring process, applicants for positions in the Nevada System of Higher Education may be required to demonstrate the ability to perform job-related tasks.
Special Requirements
    A State of Nevada/FBI background check will be required of the selected applicant.
