Education Programs Directors, Supervisors, and Professionals assist and foster the growth of early childhood, pre-K, K-12, postsecondary, adult, and related education programs throughout Nevada by providing technical assistance, training, and oversight.
Incumbents function as managers who train, supervise and evaluate the performance of subordinate supervisors; develop policies and procedures; and allocate staff and resources to accomplish goals and objectives.
This position works within the Department of Education and will be located in either Carson City or Las Vegas, NV depending on the selectee. While working under the direction of the Office of Student and School Supports Director, the Education Programs Supervisor prioritizes and coordinates the work and initiatives of Title III, Title I, Part C (Migrant) and English Learner/Zoom Programs. This incumbent is also responsible for ensuring the implementation of assigned elements of the Elementary and Secondary Education (ESEA) Waiver, including requirements relative to AMAOs and student assessment (e.g., WIDA). Additionally, this position trains, supervises and evaluates the performance of professional staff responsible for work relative to Title III, Title I, Part C, the ESEA Waiver, and English Learner/Zoom programs. Supervisor duties also include continued use of data and information from evaluations and other sources in order to improve outcomes for staff, districts, schools and students. The Education Programs Supervisor also collaborates and assists all staff members with a variety of tasks related to program implementation, evaluation, and/or federal and state requirements. This position establishes and communicates to all stakeholders initiatives and policies that support Office and Department goals and objectives. Through grants management, budget oversight and recognized monitoring and accountability measures, this position ensures effective use of federal and state funding as evidenced by positive student outcomes. The Department is especially interested in candidates with expertise or experience in implementing effective school and/or district improvement strategies in order to support underperforming schools. This position has a 25% travel requirement.

An earned Doctoral degree from an accredited college or university in business, economics, education, English, math, nutrition, psychology, science, sociology, statistics, or related field and two years of professional experience in an educational program area; OR Master's degree from an accredited college or university in business, economics, education, English, math, nutrition, psychology, science, sociology, statistics, or related field and three years of professional experience in an educational program area; OR one year of experience as an Education Programs Professional in Nevada State service. |
