Program Officers administer a program or major component of a program by planning, coordinating and managing services and activities in accordance with legal and regulatory requirements and established program performance standards and objectives.
Incumbents possess a degree of knowledge and proficiency sufficient to perform work independently with little or no additional training.
This position is located in our Donovan (CDL) office within the DMV Field Services Division.
Incumbent is responsible for the effective management and administration of the Commercial Driver License (CDL) Third Party program. Incumbent must plan, coordinate, and direct classroom and field instructions for certification of CDL State examiners and Third Party Certifiers to ensure proper training and uniformity in administering and scoring CDL and non-CDL skills test to all applicants. Incumbent will be responsible for conducting full certification academies (40 classroom hours training) and annual recertification training; ensures the CDL testing and licensing program meets Federal and State laws; provide information and interpretation of the program and its rules and regulations to department staff, Third Party companies and schools, and the general public to ensure their understanding and compliance. Incumbent will be required to monitor program operations through on-site visits, conduct audit inspections, initiates reports, and maintains records.
In order to be qualified, you must meet the following requirements:
Education and Experience (Minimum Qualifications)
Graduation from an accredited four year college or university in public administration or a related field; OR graduation from high school or the equivalent and four years of previous experience either performing or assisting in the planning, coordinating or administering of a program; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience.

A valid driver's license or evidence of equivalent mobility is required at the time of appointment and as a condition of continuing employment.
A pre-employment criminal history check and fingerprinting are required. Persons offered employment in this position will be required to pay for these items.
A State of Nevada/FBI background check will be required of the selected applicant.
Additional Position Criteria
Federal Regulation 49 CFR 384.228 identifies the Department of Motor Vehicles, Field Services Division, as a CDL testing program and shall not employ a person with any felony conviction within the last 10 years or convictions of any fraudulent activities.
The Examination
If there are five or fewer qualified applicants, the exam will consist of an application evaluation. (This statement does not apply for Until Recruitment Needs are Satisfied (URS) announcements).

The exam will consist of a written weighted 100%.
