Mental Health Counselors provide counseling, case management, direct clinical services, community and home based services, and behavioral and human services to mentally ill, developmentally disabled and/or emotionally disturbed clients in an outpatient, residential, community or similar setting.
The Nevada DIVISION OF CHILD AND FAMILY SERVICES (DCFS) is seeking a Mental Health Counselor II. Incumbents possess a degree of knowledge and proficiency sufficient to perform work independently with little or no additional training. This position provides direct services to youth and families referred to the Enliven program for First Episode Psychosis. The therapist will provide Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) to the Enliven clients and families. The therapist will also facilitate group psychotherapy. The therapist works collaboratively with the multidisciplinary Enliven team to support and encourage the clients towards recovery. The Psychotherapist reports to the Enliven Team Lead for administrative and clinical issues. Position responsibilities include: complete comprehensive assessments including rigorous strength assessments; provide individual and group CBT for youth experiencing their first episode of psychosis; in partnership with the team and building on the strengths, needs and goals of the individual and family, develop and document goals for each client and document all progress made toward completion of goals; provide individual and group therapy for families of youth experiencing their first episode of psychosis; incorporates the principles of recovery and psychosocial rehabilitation; establishes a client-directed partnership that fosters independence, competencies and hope; conducts outreach at specified sites to identify youth and families in need of services; documents assessments, plans, summaries, interventions and issues in a timely and accurate manner; maintains high quality records; and meets with clients at clients' homes, community locations, and offices as needed by the client.
This is a full time position that includes a variable work agreement with overtime after 40 hours per week. In order to be qualified, you must meet the following requirements:

Master's degree from an accredited college or university in counseling, marriage and family therapy, psychology, social work or closely related academic field and two years of post-master's degree professional mental health counseling experience; OR an equivalent combination of education and clinical experience at or above a master's degree and experience as described above. |

Licensure or certification as a Mental Health Counselor, Certified Counselor, Social Worker, Marriage and Family Therapist, Certified Alcohol and Drug Counselor, or Alcohol and Drug Abuse Counselor issued by the appropriate licensing or certification authority is required at time of appointment and as a condition of continuing employment. |
