Administrative Assistants perform a broad variety of clerical, secretarial and administrative support duties in an assigned agency, program or other work unit within State government and the Nevada System of Higher Education.

All living things depend on water, yet few people recognize that water is actually a limited resource. With less than one percent of the water found on earth being drinkable freshwater, it is certainly important to maintain its quality. NDOT is looking for candidates ready to make water quality a top issue in their daily lives! Nestled in the northwestern part of the state and within a half hour of both Lake Tahoe and Reno, is Nevada's proud historic state capital, Carson City. Carson City blends a mix of shopping, dining, entertainment, culture, and nightlife while maintaining its old-fashioned western charm. With the city's close proximity to Lake Tahoe and the Sierra Nevada Mountains, the area boasts unlimited year-round activities to include fishing, boating, hiking, biking, world-class skiing, and golf courses, and many special events throughout the year.
This position is located within Nevada Department of Transportation's (NDOT's) Stormwater Division. Incumbents within this division will use resources and education to maintain adherence to strict environmental regulations. The mandates set forth are critical, as the success of future generations depends on adherence to the clean practices of today. Incumbent will perform a broad variety of clerical, secretarial and administrative support duties to the Division Chief and professional staff assigned to the Environmental Program Division in this newly formed Division within NDOT. Incumbents possess a degree of knowledge and proficiency sufficient to perform advanced-level work and may provide work direction and training to others.

Graduation from high school or equivalent education and three years of progressively responsible relevant work experience which included experience in one or more of the following areas: maintenance of complex records and files; public/customer relations including explaining detailed policies, regulations and requirements; preparation and processing of financial and statistical documents such as payroll, travel, claims and budgeting forms; and assisting staff and management with projects and activities; OR one year of experience as an Administrative Assistant II in Nevada State service; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience. |

The exam will consist of a written weighted 100%.
