The Position
-- The University of Nevada, Reno is recruiting for a Facility Attendant for the Residential Life, Housing, and Food Services department. The main purpose of this position is to ensure safety and security of residents and buildings on UNR Campus property. The incumbent will be responsible for foot patrol of facility and building security; watching for unauthorized personnel, fires, or other dangers to the building and its occupants; screening visitors; and performing related work as required.
-- This position works 40 hours a week during the academic year, takes one month off during winter closure, and works a variable schedule during summer months; this is subject to change based on organizational needs. The position is contingent upon funding and does not provide lay-off rights. To Qualify:
In order to be qualified, you must meet the following requirements:
Education and Experience (Minimum Qualifications)
    Graduation from high school or equivalent education and six months of experience involving public contact.
Special Notes
    As part of the hiring process, applicants for positions in the Nevada System of Higher Education may be required to demonstrate the ability to perform job-related tasks.
Special Requirements
    Pursuant to NRS 284.4066, this position has been identified as affecting public safety. Persons offered employment in this position must submit to a pre-employment screening for controlled substances.
    Working weekends and/or holidays is required.
    Shift work and/or working extended hours is required.
    A State of Nevada/FBI background check will be required of the selected applicant.
Additional Position Criteria
    This position does not provide layoff rights and is contingent upon funding.
    This position requires experience working with the public, including providing assistance.
    This position requires experience with facility or building security, safety, and alarm systems.
    This position requires experience following oral and written instructions, and writing work-related reports.
    This position requires addressing the behavior of disorderly residents to maintain safety of others, and the ability to quickly and accurately respond in emergency situations.
