Mental Health Counselors provide counseling, case management, direct clinical services, community and home based services, and behavioral and human services to mentally ill, developmentally disabled and/or emotionally disturbed clients in an outpatient, residential, community or similar setting.
The Nevada DIVISION OF CHILD AND FAMILY SERVICES (DCFS) is recruiting for Mental Health Counselor I that will be located in Fallon or Ely, NV depending on the selected candidate. Incumbents perform in a trainee capacity and acquire the knowledge, skills and abilities required in this occupation. Mental Health Counselors provide primarily in home counseling, case management, direct clinical services, community and home based services, and behavioral and human services to mentally ill, developmentally disabled and/or emotionally disturbed clients in an outpatient, residential, community or similar setting. Provide counseling, case management, direct clinical services, and behavioral and human services to youth. Incumbents reviews youth charts, discusses youth treatment at case staffing, makes case presentations, makes individual and standardized assessments, integrates and analyzes information from all available sources, and documents quality of care and ensures information is available to other members of the treatment team by completing required forms and reports and maintaining documentation to ensure compliance with established laws, regulations, policies and requirements of the agency. Provide individual, family and group counseling and consultative services to clients, their families and support systems utilizing a broad array of intervention techniques required to effectively address client problems, which may include multiple psychosocial problems within the family unit. Utilize a family and community systems approach to develop and implement treatment plans by working with families and significant others in addition to the client; and resolve client problems.
This is a full time position with an anticipated variable work schedule of 8am-5pm, Monday-Friday, with appointments often occurring after 5:00 pm in order to meet the needs and schedule of assigned cases. It includes a variable work agreement with overtime after 40 hours per week. In order to be qualified, you must meet the following requirements:

Master's degree from an accredited college or university in counseling, marriage and family therapy, psychology, social work or closely related academic field; OR an equivalent combination of education and clinical experience. |

Some positions require specialized training and experience working with specific client populations |

Working evenings, weekends, and/or holidays is required. |
