The Position
Program Officers administer a program or major component of a program by planning, coordinating and managing services and activities in accordance with legal and regulatory requirements and established program performance standards and objectives.
Incumbents possess a degree of knowledge and proficiency sufficient to perform work independently with little or no additional training. The Division of Welfare and Supportive Services is currently recruiting for a Program Officer I in Southern Nevada. This position's main responsibilities will be to serve as the Southern Nevada Facility/Safety Coordinator and handle inventory. DWSS currently has 28 facilities statewide. This position will report to the facility manager located in Carson Central Office, Budget and Statistics Unit. The ideal candidate will have experience assisting in facility management. Also safety/emergency management experience is a plus. A valid Driver's license is required. Statewide travel is required of this position.

To Qualify:
In order to be qualified, you must meet the following requirements:
Education and Experience (Minimum Qualifications)
    Graduation from an accredited four year college or university in public administration or a related field; OR graduation from high school or the equivalent and four years of previous experience either performing or assisting in the planning, coordinating or administering of a program; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Special Requirements
    A valid driver's license or evidence of equivalent mobility is required at the time of appointment and as a condition of continuing employment.
    A pre-employment criminal history check and fingerprinting are required. Persons offered employment in this position will be required to pay for these items.
    A State of Nevada/FBI background check will be required of the selected applicant.
Additional Position Criteria
    This position requires experience assisting in facility management.

The Examination

The exam will consist of a written weighted 100%.
