JOB INFORMATION

Electricians perform skilled electrical work to maintain and repair electrical systems and equipment.
--The University of Nevada, Reno is recruiting for an Electrician 1 for Facilities Maintenance Services. The position is responsible for the installation of electrical equipment and electrical infrastructure for the main campus and satellite locations; performance of preventive maintenance; repair and replacement of equipment; and temporary power set up. To perform such tasks, the incumbent will operate special equipment and tools; respond to customer requests; and maintain safety at all times. Additional tasks may be assigned by the supervisor as needed to respond to campus needs. Incumbent can expect frequent walking, lifting, twisting, bending and other like medium duty physical requirements.
--The typical work schedule is Monday through Friday from 7:00 am to 3:30 pm; this is subject to change based on organizational needs. This position is designated as Essential Personnel. In the event of a campus emergency, special event, closure to maintain campus safety or building operations, this position may be required to work outside of regularly scheduled hours. In order to be qualified, you must meet the following requirements:
Education and Experience (Minimum Qualifications)
Completion of a recognized electrician apprenticeship program; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Special Requirements
A valid driver's license is required at the time of appointment and as a condition of continued employment.
A State of Nevada/FBI background check will be required of the selected applicant.

Additional Position Criteria
Applicants who have completed a qualified electrician apprenticeship program must attach proof to their application. Failure to attach proof will result in the rejection of the application.
Preferred Qualification: Experience installing and maintaining commercial and industrial electrical equipment including a) motor controls, b) uninterruptible power supplies, c) emergency generators, d) lighting controls, e) switchgear and panel boards 480 volts or less, f) paralleling gear, and g) distribution systems 5kv to 25kv.
