The Position
Positions in this series provide care, training, and treatment to children and adolescents with behavioral and emotional disturbances in a 24-hour/7-day a week treatment home setting.
The Nevada DIVISION OF CHILD AND FAMILY SERVICES (DCFS) is recruiting for a Treatment Home Supervisor located in Sparks, NV. This position provides direct care, training, and treatment to adolescents, 12-17 years of age, with behavioral and emotional disturbances in a 24-hour/7-day a week treatment home setting. Incumbents supervise and evaluate the performance of lower level professionals and support staff, schedule and assign work, participate as a member of the Adolescent Treatment Center training team to ensure new staff are trained within required timelines and that current staff obtain annual required trainings and provide coaching and oversight to staff ensuring compliance and fidelity to the specific treatment models. The Treatment Home Supervisor has lead responsibility for the direct care operations of a treatment home which provides 24/7 care for children and adolescents with severe emotional disturbances who cannot be cared for in private community treatment homes or family homes. Supervisors deliver and oversee psychosocial rehabilitation, implement therapeutic interventions, facilitate and co-facilitate psychosocial rehabilitation groups, provide parent education, and act as a liaison for schools, referral sources, and other providers. In addition, the incumbent will observe and review reports of behavior, prepares structured treatment plans with colleagues and parents/guardians to correct unacceptable behavior, and carries out and reports on treatment plan steps as needed. Incumbents also provide staff training and coaching during staff shifts often role modeling with supervisees, develop work schedules in collaboration with the Clinical Program Manager, assure staff are trained to policies and procedures and follow them, complete employee evaluations, and assist with employee recruitment and interviews. Incumbents are required to work one late shift each week to assure full supervisory coverage and availability during client awake hours.
This is a full time position with an anticipated variable work agreement with overtime after 40 hours per week. To Qualify:
In order to be qualified, you must meet the following requirements:
Education and Experience (Minimum Qualifications)
    Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in education, child development, psychology, counseling, social work, or closely related field and two years of experience in the care, training, and/or treatment of children or adolescents with behavioral and emotional disturbances; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience above the bachelor's degree level.
Special Requirements
    A valid driver's license or evidence of equivalent mobility is required at the time of appointment and as a condition of continued employment.
    Work on evenings, weekends, and/or holidays is required.
    A State of Nevada/FBI background check will be required of the selected applicant.
The Examination
TREATMENT HOME SUPERVISOR (10.146) Training and Experience Exam
The exam will consist of a rating of training and experience weighted 100%. It is essential that applications include extensively detailed information with time frames regarding education and experience. Your score will be based on the information provided in your application and your responses to the questions asked below. If there are several parts to a question, answer each part separately. Along with each answer, identify the position(s) and/or training (as described in your application) where you gained the background asked for in the question. Absence of experience/training asked for in a question is not necessarily disqualifying. Failure to answer the questions will result in a score based solely on the application.

Those applicants deemed amongst the most qualified will be contacted by the hiring agency for interview.
1) Describe your experience, including number of years and where the experience was gained, implementing behavior modification techniques, and teaching, training and providing treatment for behaviorally and emotionally disturbed children or adolescents in a mental health setting.
2) Describe your experience, including number of years and where the experience was gained, implementing the Boys Town Psycho-educational Model. If your experience is with a different model, please state the name of the model and explain.
3) Do you have a Master's degree (or higher) in Social or Behavioral Science? List any degrees you hold including level and major.
4) Describe your experience, including number of years and where the experience was gained, training and supervising staff involved in providing care and treatment to children and adolescents.
5) Do you have current Crisis Prevention and Response (CPAR) certification? If yes, you must attach your certification to your application to receive credit.
