The Position
Licensed Psychologists provide psychological testing, evaluation, psychotherapy, counseling, and consultation to clients or inmates in residential, inpatient and outpatient settings, at a mental health, intellectual disabilities, or correctional facility, or in other settings where psychological services are provided.
Incumbents function as managers who train, supervise and evaluate the performance of subordinate supervisors; develop policies and procedures; and allocate staff and resources to accomplish goals and objectives.
This position supports SOUTHERN NEVADA ADULT MENTAL HEALTH SERVICES (SNAMHS), Stein Hospital. The Stein Hospital is a secure forensic hospital providing inpatient forensic services for adults who are court committed, serving Southern Nevada. The Stein Hospital is located in Las Vegas, NV and is scheduled to open in late 2015. The facility is current recruiting for a Licensed Psychologist II for the facility. Through a team approach, SNAMHS provides innovative inpatient and outpatient mental health services for the Southern Nevada community. Agency positions may be assigned to any SNAMHS work location and any shift. SNAMHS is an exciting place to work with emphasis on utilizing the recovery model, developing innovative programs, increasing consumer and family involvement, educating the public through a variety of activities, and implementing a best practices clinical program. Incumbent will work an innovative variable schedule and are exempt from overtime. As condition for continued employment must complete and maintain all position and agency required trainings and certifications, including respirator fit testing and Certification in Conflict Prevention and Response Training which the agency provides. Incumbent must also demonstrate forensics experience through training and work history. To Qualify:
In order to be qualified, you must meet the following requirements:
Education and Experience (Minimum Qualifications)
    Two years of post-doctoral experience in providing psychological services in an inpatient, outpatient or residential setting, which must have included one year of experience in the supervision of clinicians.
Special Requirements
    Working evenings, weekends, and/or holidays is required.
    A pre-employment criminal history check and fingerprinting are required. Persons offered employment in this position will be required to pay for these items.
    A State of Nevada/FBI background check will be required of the selected applicant.
    Licensed Psychologist II's must possess current licensure as a Psychologist issued by the State of Nevada Board of Psychological Examiners at the time of appointment and maintain licensure as a condition of continuing employment.
