The Position
Clinical Social Workers provide clinical services to clients/inmates in a residential, home, inpatient, outpatient, rehabilitation, correctional or similar setting.
Incumbents perform in a trainee capacity and acquire the knowledge, skills and abilities required in this occupation. OR Incumbents perform basic tasks or elements of the job not requiring the additional knowledge, skills and abilities to perform at the next level in the series.
This position supports SOUTHERN NEVADA ADULT MENTAL HEALTH SERVICES (SNAMHS), Stein Hospital. The Stein Hospital is a secure forensic hospital providing inpatient forensic services for adults who are court committed, serving Southern Nevada. The Stein Hospital is located in Las Vegas, NV and is scheduled to open in late 2015. Positions at this level receive direct supervision while performing duties and incumbents receive training and gain experience while working toward licensure by the Board of Examiners for Social Work. This is the entry level class in the series and incumbents may progress to the Clinical Social Worker II position upon receipt of their license. The position will coordinate and obtain community services for clients, actively participate on the treatment team, develop treatment plans, and provide crisis intervention. Through a team approach, SNAMHS provides innovative inpatient and outpatient mental health services for the Southern Nevada community. Agency positions may be assigned to any SNAMHS work location and any shift. To Qualify:
In order to be qualified, you must meet the following requirements:
Education and Experience (Minimum Qualifications)
    Master's degree from an accredited college or university in social work and an internship approved by the Board of Examiners for Social Workers.
Special Notes
    Persons employed by a government agency on July 1, 1988 as a social worker, supervisor of social work or administrator of social work who were performing clinical social work duties, and who possess a license to practice as an associate in social work and who meet the experience requirements are eligible to compete in the selection process for this series.
    Incumbents must obtain and maintain licensure or provisional licensure to engage in social work as a Clinical Social Worker or associate in social work in accordance with NRS Chapter 641B and the regulations adopted by the Board of Examiners for Social Workers.
    Must be in or eligible for an internship for licensure as a Licensed Clinical Social Worker with the State of Nevada Board of Examiners for Social Workers, or must hold a license in the State of Nevada as a Licensed Clinical Social Worker.
Special Requirements
    A valid driver's license is required at the time of appointment and as a condition of continuing employment.
    Working evenings, weekends, and/or holidays is required.
    A pre-employment criminal history check and fingerprinting are required. Persons offered employment in this position will be required to pay for fingerprinting.
    A State of Nevada/FBI background check will be required of the selected applicant.
    Pursuant to NRS 284.4066, this position has been identified as affecting public safety. Persons offered employment in this position must submit to a pre-employment screening for controlled substances.
