Professional Engineer Administrators are responsible for management of an assigned district, function or division in the Department of Transportation.
Incumbents function as managers who train, supervise and evaluate the performance of subordinate supervisors; develop policies and procedures; and allocate staff and resources to accomplish goals and objectives.
All living things depend on water, yet few people recognize that water is a limited resource. With less than one percent of the water found on earth being drinkable freshwater, it is certainly important to maintain its quality. NDOT is looking for candidates ready to make water quality a top issue in their daily lives!
This position is located within NDOT's Stormwater Division in Carson City. Incumbents will use resources and education to maintain adherence to strict environmental regulations. The mandates set forth are critical, as the success of future generations depends on adherence to the clean practices of today. The incumbent will: administer the activities of the division including establishment and implementation of policies and procedures; provide direction and law/regulation interpretation and guidance; direct the division's monitoring, inspection, and enforcement activities to ensure the effectiveness of the Illicit Discharge Detection and Elimination Program; oversee the use and monitor the work of consultants to ensure compliance with consultant agreement and applicable laws and regulations; and defend NDOT's position in cases involving permit violations, contract violations, and illicit discharge to or from NDOT right-of-way.

In order to be qualified, you must meet the following requirements:

Current licensure as a Professional Engineer (P.E.) and five years progressively responsible professional engineering experience in a supervisory or managerial capacity; OR one year of experience as an Administrator I, P.E. in Nevada State service; OR two years of experience as a Manager I, P.E., or Manager II, P.E. in Nevada State service; OR licensure and an equivalent combination of education and experience. |

Any person registered as a Professional Engineer in another state must become registered as a Professional Engineer in Nevada within six months following the date of appointment and as a continuing condition of employment.
