Conservation Educators plan, organize, implement and evaluate educational programs designed to teach hunter and boating safety, environmental concepts and other wildlife related areas to the public, and participate in public relations activities.
Incumbents possess a degree of knowledge and proficiency sufficient to perform work independently with little or no additional training.
Conservation Educators plan, organize, implement and evaluate educational programs designed to teach hunter and boating safety, environmental concepts and other wildlife related areas to the public, and participate in public relations activities.
Incumbents possess a degree of knowledge and proficiency sufficient to perform advanced-level work and may provide work direction and training to others.
Located in Las Vegas, this position coordinates and manages the Wildlife Education Program in the agency's Southern Region. Plans and conducts educational programs or workshops for youth and adult audiences throughout the region, recruits and trains volunteer instructors to assist with product delivery, and writes news releases, articles, brochures and other informative materials. Educational programs and workshops will sometimes take place in outdoor settings and remote locations. In addition, the incumbent assists with the regional public affairs program, photography and video production, and other Conservation Education programs as needed and assists with development of the regional Wildlife Education budget.

Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in education, journalism, communications, outdoor recreation/leadership/education, wildlife management, biology or related field and one year of professional experience in conservation education which included presenting educational programs, preparing educational plans, writing news releases, developing written materials for publication, and/or preparing and presenting radio and television broadcasts; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience; OR one year of experience as a Conservation
Educator I in Nevada State service. |
