JOB INFORMATION
Work Type: Permanent, full time vacancies as they may occur
in this geographical location.
Incumbents possess a degree of knowledge and proficiency sufficient to perform work independently with little or no additional training.
This position will report to the Department of Printing Services located at the Cheyenne Campus. Under general supervision of the Reprographics Supervisor, the Offset Press Operator provides skilled printing and bindery services and prepares plates for offset printing; operates medium-sized multi-color offset press to prepare a wide variety of printed materials. Schedules and sets up for printing jobs; reviews work orders to determine job requirements such as quantity, paper size, ink color, bindery requirements, and production deadline. Services and repairs the press to maintain equipment in proper working order; cleans and lubricates equipment; changes adjusting roller covers and cylinder blankets; adjusts roller and cylinder pressures. Assembles and binds printed materials in accordance with the work order; sets up and operates various bindery equipment such as collators, drills, stitchers, and binding machines. Performs related duties as assigned. Preferred Qualification and please detail this information on your application: Experience with running digital production equipment; basic typesetting skills; and basic equipment repair. This position may require occasional traveling between campuses and working extended hours and weekends during peak periods. In order to be qualified, you must meet the following requirements:
Education and Experience (Minimum Qualifications)
Graduation from high school or equivalent education and two years of skilled experience operating a medium size multi-color offset press, preparing plates for offset printing, and operating camera and plate processing equipment; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience.
