Administrative Assistants perform a broad variety of clerical, secretarial and administrative support duties in an assigned agency, program or other work unit within State government and the Nevada System of Higher Education.
Incumbents possess a degree of knowledge and proficiency sufficient to perform advanced-level work and may provide work direction and training to others.
The Administrative Assistant III performs in the capacity of Staff Coordinator/Scheduler under the direction of the Director of Nursing Services for the Nevada State Veterans Home in Boulder City. This position is responsible for utilizing a software program to develop and provide staff schedules for the department's 24/7 clinical department. This involves soliciting staff to cover vacant positions, approve leave time utilizing the State of Nevada NEATS, contact outside contracted staff, schedule furlough leave, and maintain daily employee sign-in sheets for each clinical neighborhood. Additionally, responsibility of monitoring clinical staff for suspected leave abuse which includes preparing reports and various documents for review, assisting with the interview process for clinical positions, and providing professional support to the Director of Nursing Services. The successful candidate must possess exceptional time-management and organizational skills, be flexible and multi-task oriented, possess above average communication skills, and able to work independently and be a team player. Intermediate Microsoft Office Excel and/or scheduling software experience preferred.

Education and Experience (Minimum Qualifications)
Graduation from high school or equivalent education and three years of progressively responsible relevant work experience which included experience in one or more of the following areas: maintenance of complex records and files; public/customer relations including explaining detailed policies, regulations and requirements; preparation and processing of financial and statistical documents such as payroll, travel, claims and budgeting forms; and assisting staff and management with projects and activities; OR one year of experience as an Administrative Assistant II in Nevada State service; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Special Requirements
A State of Nevada/FBI background check will be required of the selected applicant.

This recruit is to fill a position in Boulder City. You must be available to work in Boulder City.
The Examination
CLERICAL SUPPORT EXAM
The exam will consist of a written weighted 100%.
