The Position
Information Technology (IT) Technicians install, configure, monitor, and maintain networks and monitor and maintain help desk user support or mainframe and server operations.
Incumbents possess a degree of knowledge and proficiency sufficient to perform advanced-level work and may provide work direction and training to others. This position is located at the Summit View Youth Correctional Center in Las Vegas, Nevada. Information Technology (IT) Technicians perform all functions required to prepare and install microcomputers and related equipment, including connections to the data communications network. Incumbent will assist in the diagnosis and resolution of hardware and software problems; provides assistance to users with microcomputer operations and equipment problems, while responding to questions in a timely and service-oriented manner. Develops proposals for the procurement of information systems and services, and works with vendors to implement and support systems that provide physical security to facility and provide for ongoing maintenance and enhancements. Order and inventory spare parts, including stripping surplus equipment for usable parts.

This is a full time position with a variable work agreement with overtime after 40 hours per week. The State of Nevada and DCFS offer an excellent benefits package that includes health, dental and vision insurance, participation in the Public Employees Retirement System (PERS), accrual of 15 days of annual and 15 days of sick leave, 11 paid holidays and no city, county, state or social security tax! DCFS also encourages education by providing on-going trainings and paid release time for staff to obtain CEU's. Some positions may also be eligible for an additional 5% Shift Differential pay.

To Qualify:
In order to be qualified, you must meet the following requirements:
Education and Experience (Minimum Qualifications)
    Graduation from high school or equivalent education and three years of IT work experience in the installation, maintenance, and repair of network workstation hardware and software; OR one year of experience as an IT Technician V in Nevada State service; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Special Notes
    This position requires certification in NCJIS/NCIC within 6 months of employment and recertification every 2 years for continued employment. Certification will be conducted by the Division.

    This position is subject to call-out or call-back.
    Working evenings, weekends and/or holidays is required.
    A State of Nevada/FBI background check will be required of the selected applicant.
