The Position
Incumbents function as first-line supervisors who train, supervise and evaluate the performance of assigned staff; assign and review work; and initiate disciplinary action.
This position is located in the Carson City Human Resources Divsion of the Department of Corrections. Position responsibilities include Workers' Compensation program administration, claims management, compliance with statutory, regulatory and OSHA standards; occupational illnesses/exposures; police/fire heart/lung program administration; developement and presentations of Workers' Compensation training to include OSHA blood borne issues and safety. ***THIS RECRUITMENT MAY CLOSE AT ANY TIME BASED ON THE AMOUNT OF APPLICATIONS RECEIVED. To Qualify:
In order to be qualified, you must meet the following requirements:
Education and Experience (Minimum Qualifications)
    Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in occupational safety and health, industrial hygiene, engineering, or the physical sciences, and two years of professional work experience focusing on occupational health and safety, which included writing reports on identified safety hazards and recommended abatements, and which preferably included interaction with workers' compensation claims management; OR an Associate of Arts degree in occupational safety and health or a field directly related to the duties of this class, and three years of experience as described above; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Special Requirements
    A State of Nevada/FBI background check will be required of the selected applicant.
Additional Position Criteria
    Experience in case management of Workers' Compensation claims.

The exam will consist of an application evaluation. It is essential that applications include detailed information with time frames regarding education and experience. The most qualified applicants will be contacted by the hiring agency for interview. The hiring agency may require specific skills related testing as part of the interviewing process.
