Personnel Analysts are responsible for performing comprehensive personnel functions for a state department, division or agency. Work may involve employee relations, recruitment and selection, classification and compensation,
employee development, benefit administration, staffing and payroll.
Incumbents possess a degree of knowledge and proficiency sufficient to perform work independently with little or no additional training.
This full-time position is assigned to the Department of Administration/ Human Resource Management, Compensation, Classification and Recruitment section and is located in Carson City, Nevada. The position performs duties relating to classification assignments which include conducting job evaluations and comparative analysis of individual classified positions. The position will be responsible for recommending determinations, conducting class specification reviews and maintenance studies, and creating new class specifications. Duties also include, but are not limited to, coordinating and conducting interviews with State employees and subject matter experts, determining classifications (utilizing a broad spectrum of occupational groups and classifications), preparing written analyses, presenting decisions to incumbents and agency personnel, defending decisions before governing bodies, conducting recruitments, and other duties as assigned. A writing skills assessment will be conducted as part of the interview process. NOTE: Per NV State Legislature, State of Nevada Classified employees are subject to a mandatory unpaid furlough requirement of 48 hours per year (part-time prorated) through June 30, 2015.

Graduation from an accredited college or university with a Bachelor's degree in public administration or a related field and two years of progressively responsible professional personnel experience; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience.

A valid driver's license or evidence of equivalent mobility is required at the time of appointment and as a condition of continuing employment. |

A pre-employment criminal history check and fingerprinting are required. Persons offered employment in this position will be required to pay for these items. |

Experience conducting research, evaluations and comparative analysis of individual classified positions and recommending determinations in regards to classification and/or implementing recruitment strategies in a government environment. |
