The Position
Social Services Chiefs manage the overall design, analysis, development and evaluation of social services programs.
Incumbents function as managers who train, supervise and evaluate the performance of subordinate supervisors; develop policies and procedures; and allocate staff and resources to accomplish goals and objectives.
Aging and Disability Services ( ADSD ) provides an atmosphere of innovative thinking, teamwork, and friendly co-workers, and is a great place to work. The mission of ADSD is to provide leadership and advocacy in the planning, development and delivery of a high quality, comprehensive support service system across the lifespan to allow all of Nevada's elders, children and adults with disabilities or special health care needs, to live independent, meaningful and dignified lives to the greatest extent possible. This position oversees the Senior and Disability Prescription Program, the Traumatic Brain Injury Program, Independent Living and Assistive Technology Services, as well as Deaf and Hard of Hearing Advocacy Services. Additionally, the position holder staffs various Governor appointed committees designed to promote the rights of and service access for persons with disabilities. The incumbent ensures programs operate within federal and state guidelines, that policies and procedures are in place and assures that data is maintained for appropriate program and fiscal planning and budgeting. The position is also responsible for the planning, monitoring and coordinating of activities and supervision of both professional and administrative staff.

To Qualify:
In order to be qualified, you must meet the following requirements:
Education and Experience (Minimum Qualifications)
    Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in social work, health or social science, public or business administration or related field and three years of professional social services experience which included serving as a consultant to professional/supervisory program personnel; coordinating program activities with officials and representatives of other agencies; interpreting and applying complex federal regulations, technical journals, and legislative studies; writing program policies, procedures, and reports; and conducting research and preparing recommendations for management; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Special Requirements
    A pre-employment criminal history check and fingerprinting are required. Persons offered employment in this position will be required to pay for these items.

The exam will consist of a rating of training and experience weighted 100%. It is essential that applications include extensively detailed information with time frames regarding education and experience.
