The Position
Administrative Assistants perform a broad variety of clerical, secretarial and administrative support duties in an assigned agency, program or other work unit within State government and the Nevada System of Higher Education.
--The University of Nevada, Reno is recruiting for an Administrative Assistant 4 for Police Services. The incumbent will provide high level administrative support to the Director, Police Services. The incumbent will schedule, organize, and coordinate meetings, conferences, and publicized events; develop and produce informational materials; research and investigate complaints; relay specialized and sensitive information; interpret and explain department and university policies and procedures; arrange travel; and provide project management support.
--The typical work schedule is Monday through Friday from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm with occasional variation in work hours; this is subject to change based on organizational needs. Pursuant to Nevada Legislature, State of Nevada Classified employees are subject to a mandatory unpaid furlough requirement of six days (part-time prorated) per fiscal year effective July 1, 2013. To Qualify:
In order to be qualified, you must meet the following requirements:
Education and Experience (Minimum Qualifications)
    Graduation from high school or equivalent education and four years of progressively responsible relevant work experience which included experience in one or more of the following areas: providing administrative/program support to professional staff and management; performing secretarial duties in support of a manager; coordinating communications between the manager, staff and program clientele; supervision of subordinate staff; researching information from internal and external sources; OR one year of experience as an Administrative Assistant III in Nevada State service; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience.

    As part of the hiring process, applicants for positions in the Nevada System of Higher Education may be required to demonstrate the ability to perform job-related tasks.
Special Requirements
    A State of Nevada/FBI background check will be required of the selected applicant.
Additional Position Criteria
    This position requires experience providing administrative support for an executive including a) calendaring, b) arranging meetings, c) screening correspondences, d) preparing and editing documents, and e) researching policies.
    This position requires having a valid driver's license at the time of appointment and as a condition of continued employment.
    This position requires experience working with confidential information.
    This position requires experience with project coordination.
    This position requires experience using Microsoft Word in a business setting.
    This position requires experience using Microsoft Excel in a business setting.
    This position requires experience using Microsoft Power Point in a business setting.
The Examination
CLERICAL SUPPORT EXAM
The exam will consist of a written weighted 100%.

Qualified applicants will be contacted by the hiring agency for interview.

20 - English Grammar, Punctuation and Spelling
