The Position
Within the Budget Division of the Governor's Finance Office, Executive Branch Budget Officers develop, analyze and make recommendations on biennial budgets and expenditures for all executive budgets; analyze agency staffing ratios and historical data in relation to population growth, economic conditions, national trends and standards and other pertinent information; make evaluative judgments regarding the efficiency of agency operations, effectiveness in reaching established goals and objectives, organizational structure, and legislative intent; review and analyze budget requests and adjustments; and ensure compliance with budgetary directives, policies, regulations and limitations.
Incumbents possess a degree of knowledge and proficiency sufficient to perform advanced-level work and may provide work direction and training to others.
This position works within the Department of Administration, Budget Division located in Carson City. Job duties for this position include the preparation and implementation of budgets, the review and analysis of budget requests and adjustments as well as ensuring the compliance with budgetary directives, policies, regulations and limitations. Additionally, the incumbent assists agencies in developing budget requests, monitors assigned budget accounts, and controls/oversees budgets to ensure compliance. Please note that this position is subject to Flexible/Rotating Shifts, requires extensive overtime from September 1st through January 31st every other year to prepare the Governor Recommends Budget, and may be subject to overtime throughout the rest of the year. NOTE: Per NV State Legislature, State of Nevada Classified employees are subject to a mandatory unpaid furlough requirement of 48 hours per year (part-time prorated) through June 30, 2015.

To Qualify:
In order to be qualified, you must meet the following requirements:
Education and Experience (Minimum Qualifications)
    Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in business or public administration, accounting, finance, economics, or closely related field and five years of professional budgeting, accounting, economic or management analysis and projection, staff analyst or auditing experience, one year of which was equivalent to a Budget Analyst III in Nevada State service; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Special Notes
    Appointment to any level in this series requires successful completion of a written examination.
