The Position
Information Technology (IT) Technicians install, configure, monitor, and maintain networks and monitor and maintain help desk user support or mainframe and server operations.
--The University of Nevada, Reno, College of Business is recruiting for an IT Technician 4. The incumbent will be responsible for software installations, maintenance, upgrades, and technical support for all College of Business computers. The position will also carry out website and server administration and computer lab management to include student worker supervision, policy development, specialized application support and troubleshooting and inventory management.
--The typical work schedule is Monday through Friday from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm with flexibility for some evenings, weekends and holidays; this is subject to change based on organizational needs. Pursuant to Nevada Legislature, State of Nevada Classified employees are subject to a mandatory unpaid furlough requirement of six days (part-time prorated) per fiscal year effective July 1, 2013. To Qualify:
In order to be qualified, you must meet the following requirements:
Education and Experience (Minimum Qualifications)
    Graduation from high school or equivalent and five years of experience utilizing the fundamentals of typical computer systems, operating systems, applications, and peripherals, three years of which must have included IT work experience in a user support role; OR (for positions in the Network Operations & Support specialty ONLY) Graduation from high school or equivalent education and one year of IT work experience in the upgrade or replacement of software and hardware components on networked workstations; OR one year of relevant experience as an IT Technician III in Nevada State service; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Special Notes
    As part of the hiring process, applicants for positions in the Nevada System of Higher Education may be required to demonstrate the ability to perform job-related tasks.
Special Requirements
    A State of Nevada/FBI background check will be required of the selected applicant.
Additional Position Criteria
    This position requires working occasional evenings, weekends and holidays.
    This position requires a valid driver's license at the time of appointment and as a condition of continued employment.
    This position requires the ability to travel locally.
    This position requires lifting up to 50 pounds occasionally.
    Applications will be reviewed using the Network Operations and Support minimum qualifications.
    This position requires experience configuring software to work in a multi user environment.
    This position requires experience with network ID management in Active Directory.
