The Position
Administrative Assistants perform a broad variety of clerical, secretarial and administrative support duties in an assigned agency, program or other work unit within State government and the Nevada System of Higher Education.
-- The University of Nevada School of Medicine (UNSOM) is recruiting for a Residency Coordinator/ AA3. The incumbent's primary purpose is to serve as a Residency Coordinator. Duties include to serve as a liaison to regulatory agencies, coordinate resident recruitment and selection processes, onboard new residents, coordinate rotation, perform process for program evaluations. The incumbent will Coordinate Residency Program activities; prepare for accreditation site visits; maintain resident case list database; oversee night call schedule, core curriculum schedules, and monthly roster. Complete reports and surveys concerning the Residency Program for accreditation agencies; maintain and update Ob/Gyn Residency Program web site and program brochures. Maintain, track, and reviews resident files, personnel records, contract renewals, licensure, and completion of medical records; serves on Resident Education Committee. Oversee resident appointment and promotion process, licensure and completion of controlled substance forms, and applications for medical staff privileges; verify resident and faculty training and employment data. Assist Medical-Legal Department concerning queries of malpractice; acts as liaison with Human Resources, the Graduate Medical Education (GME) office, academic departments, and hospital and medical staffs. Program and department support perform other duties as assigned.
--The typical work schedule is Monday through Friday from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm; this is subject to change based on organizational needs. Pursuant to Nevada Legislature, State of Nevada Classified employees are subject to a mandatory unpaid furlough requirement of six days (part-time prorated) per fiscal year effective July 1, 2013. To Qualify:
In order to be qualified, you must meet the following requirements:
Education and Experience (Minimum Qualifications)
    Graduation from high school or equivalent education and three years of progressively responsible relevant work experience which included experience in one or more of the following areas: maintenance of complex records and files; public/customer relations including explaining detailed policies, regulations and requirements; preparation and processing of financial and statistical documents such as payroll, travel, claims and budgeting forms; and assisting staff and management with projects and activities; OR one year of experience as an Administrative Assistant II in Nevada State service; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Special Requirements
    A State of Nevada/FBI background check will be required of the selected applicant.
Additional Position Criteria
    This position requires experience managing and coordination of several schedules and calendars.
    This position requires experience tracking and maintaining confidential records.
    This position requires the ability to travel.
    This position requires obtaining a TAGME certification (national residency coordinator certification) within three years of employment.
    This position requires prior experience as a Residency Coordinator.
    This position requires strong interpersonal skills, verbal and written communication skills and organizational skills.
The Examination
CLERICAL SUPPORT EXAM
The exam will consist of a written weighted 100%.

Qualified applicants will be contacted by the hiring agency for interview.
