Personnel Officer's plan, organize and administer personnel services such as employee relations, selection, training and payroll in an assigned agency.
Incumbents function as first-line supervisors who train, supervise and evaluate the performance of assigned staff; assign and review work; and initiate disciplinary action.
The Department of Public Safety (DPS) provides services in support of protecting our citizens and visitors by promoting safer communities through prevention, preparedness, response, recovery, education and enforcement. The DPS Human Resources Office is looking for a human resource professional who is a self-starter, knowledgeable, motivated and enjoys working in a fast-paced law enforcement environment. The incumbent will lead two staff members and will strive to resolve employee and management differences for its southern Nevada location. The incumbent will be part of a 13-person team that provides professional and customer-oriented human resource services to over 1300 employees. The selected candidate may also assist in conducting high level recruitments for the Department.
In order to be qualified, you must meet the following requirements:

Graduation from an accredited four year college or university in personnel management, business administration, public administration or related area and three years of progressively responsible professional personnel management experience; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience
