The Position
Licensed Professional Engineers provide professional services involving the application of engineering principles and data, or activities in connection with public or private utilities, structures, buildings, machines, equipment or projects impacting the public welfare or the safeguarding of life, health or property.
Incumbents possess a degree of knowledge and proficiency sufficient to perform work independently with little or no additional training.
This position has two main functions: enforcement and compliance of Nevada Water Law and water planning. Enforcement and compliance includes review and analysis of complex water rights violations and issues. This task requires detailed reviews of the Division's records, engineering reports and hydrographic abstracts in order to process the alleged violation. This position requires close working relationships with basin engineers, and a solid working knowledge of Nevada Water Law. The water planning component includes the task of reviewing and recommending approval of water conservation plans submitted by water purveyors across the State. This task requires a working knowledge of potable water systems, including municipal and private systems, and the regulations that govern the various water systems. This position also requires collaboration with local and state agencies that deal with water conservation. Also required for this position is knowledge of current laws & regulations pertaining to water project programs, & proposed water projects. As a senior level engineer, this position is also responsible for reviewing work of junior staff members that may be assisting this position in performing the tasks briefly described above.

To Qualify:
In order to be qualified, you must meet the following requirements:
Education and Experience (Minimum Qualifications)
    Current Licensure as a Professional Engineer (P.E.)
Special Notes
    A person that is a licensed Professional Engineer in another state must become licensed as a Professional Engineer in Nevada within six months of appointment as a condition of employment.
Special Requirements
    Registration as a Professional Engineer is required at the time of appointment and as a condition of continuing employment.
Additional Position Criteria
    Experience with Nevada Water Law.
    Experience working for or with a regulatory agency.
The Examination

The exam will consist of an application evaluation. It is essential that applications include detailed information with time frames regarding education and experience. The most qualified applicants will be contacted by the hiring agency for interview. The hiring agency may require specific skills related testing as part of the interviewing process.
