The Position
Program Officers administer a program or major component of a program by planning, coordinating and managing services and activities in accordance with legal and regulatory requirements and established program performance standards and objectives.
Incumbents possess a degree of knowledge and proficiency sufficient to perform work independently with little or no additional training. *THIS RECRUITMENT MAY CLOSE PRIOR TO THE POSTED CLOSING DATE BASED ON THE VOLUME OF APPLICATIONS RECEIVED. APPLICANTS INTERESTED ARE ENCOURAGED TO APPLY AS SOON AS POSSIBLE.
The Program Officer I position is located within the NDOC MIS Division Help Desk. This position is responsible for providing support to computer users statewide with various computer issues. This would entail administering, monitoring and assigning work tickets, creating and maintaining Network user accounts, providing step by step assistance for users by telephone as well as trouble shooting and making recommendations to fix hardware errors.

To Qualify:
In order to be qualified, you must meet the following requirements:
Education and Experience (Minimum Qualifications)
    Graduation from an accredited four year college or university in public administration or a related field; OR graduation from high school or the equivalent and four years of previous experience either performing or assisting in the planning, coordinating or administering of a program; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Special Notes
    Subject to emergency call back and/or stand-by.
    Travel 10% of the time.
    Work a variable work schedule.
Special Requirements
    A valid driver's license or evidence of equivalent mobility is required at the time of appointment and as a condition of continuing employment.
    A State of Nevada/FBI background check will be required of the selected applicant.
    A pre-employment criminal history check and fingerprinting are required.
Additional Position Criteria
    Requires IT Help Desk experience.
The Examination
If there are five or fewer qualified applicants, the exam will consist of an application evaluation. (This statement does not apply for Until Recruitment Needs are Satisfied (URS) announcements).
PROGRAM OFFICER I (07.649) Written Exam
The exam will consist of a written weighted 100%.
