The Position
Incumbents function as managers who train, supervise and evaluate the performance of subordinate supervisors; develop policies and procedures; and allocate staff and resources to accomplish goals and objectives.
This position is located in Carson City, Project Management. The incumbent: manages and delivers major, complex, and regionally significant highway projects, within the framework of Project Management Guidelines, using traditional (Design-Bid-Build) and innovative (Design-Build, Design-Build-Finance, Construction Manager at Risk) project delivery methods; and performs professional engineering work in coordinating, planning, directing, and managing activities as a Senior Project Manager for the Nevada Department of Transportation (NDOT). This includes responsibility for the scope, budget, quality, and timely completion of multi-year transportation projects. Oversees activities between consultants and contractors; coordinates activities between various functional divisions within NDOT, with other State and federal agencies, and with local transportation officials; resolves extensive planning, environmental, right-of-way, design, construction, and maintenance issues associated with the highway projects, as well as intensive coordination and communication with federal officials to ensure appropriate use of federal funds. To Qualify:
In order to be qualified, you must meet the following requirements:
Education and Experience (Minimum Qualifications)
    Current licensure as a Registered Professional Engineer and demonstrated supervisory or responsible project charge experience in designing, constructing or coordinating major highway or transportation projects.
Special Notes
    Any person registered as a Professional Engineer in another state must become registered as a Professional Engineer in Nevada within six months following the date of appointment and as a continuing condition of employment.
Additional Position Criteria
    Experience leading teams on large complex highway design and/or construction projects of $25 million or more is required for this position. This experience must also be reflected in your employment history.
    Experience developing and presenting project information and answering questions for governing boards and public hearings is required for this position. This experience must also be reflected in your employment history.
