Professional Engineer Administrators are responsible for management of an assigned district, function or division in the Department of Transportation.
Incumbents function as managers who train, supervise and evaluate the performance of subordinate supervisors; develop policies and procedures; and allocate staff and resources to accomplish goals and objectives.
This position is located within the Construction Division, in Carson City. Incumbent will serve as the liaison between the Nevada Department of Transportation's (NDOT's) Districts, Divisions, and the Federal Highway Administration (FHWA). Duties will include performing oversight of the Construction Program for Districts II and III; supervision of the Construction Division's Quality Assurance Section operations statewide and NDOT's Partnering Program; as well as assisting in the administration of NDOT's Construction Division operations statewide. Other responsibilities will include acting in an advisory capacity to Resident and District Construction Engineers on construction matters; reviewing ongoing projects for compliance with specifications, statutory regulations and department policies; reviewing plans and specifications on upcoming contracts; providing input to Roadway and Structural Division specifications; reviewing contract change orders for compliance; and administering the contract claims process.

In order to be qualified, you must meet the following requirements:
Education and Experience (Minimum Qualifications)
Current licensure as a Professional Engineer (P.E.) and four years of progressively responsible professional engineering experience in a supervisory or responsible project charge capacity; OR one year of experience as a Manager II, P.E. in Nevada State service; OR two years experience as a Manager I, P.E. or Supervisor IV, P.E. in Nevada State service; OR licensure and an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Special Notes
Any person registered as a Professional Engineer in another state must become registered as a Professional Engineer in Nevada within six months following the date of appointment and as a continuing condition of employment.
Special Requirements
Registration as a Professional Engineer is required at the time of appointment and as a condition of continuing employment.
Additional Position Criteria
Requires experience with managing design and/or construction of transportation projects.
