Mental Health Technicians supplement the work of mental health professionals, health specialists, and nursing staff in providing direct client care for clients in a mental health facility.
Incumbents perform in a trainee capacity and acquire the knowledge, skills and abilities required in this occupation.
The Rural Clinic in Fernley, Department of Behavioral and Public Health has a Mental Health Technician II position, that identifies presenting basic skills deficits, provides crisis management and care coordination. Participate in family-centered treatment planning, discharge planning, strategic planning, quality assurance and improvement. Provide crisis management strategies to reduce out of home placement. Provide rehabilitative mental health services, care coordination and administrative support. This can include frontline reception, appointment scheduling, maintaining accurate client records, maintain financial data entry, monitor and track center data reports and assist with medication clinic.
In order to be qualified, you must meet the following requirements:
Education and Experience (Minimum Qualifications)
Graduation from high school or equivalent education and two years of experience, one of which was paraprofessional experience in a hospital, institutional, or residential setting providing care, treatment, training and supervision for individuals with mental illness. In addition, applicants must have completed coursework required while working toward certification in accordance with statute and regulation; OR one year of experience as a Mental Health Technician I or Developmental Support Technician in Nevada State service, and completion of coursework required by statute and regulation.
