The Position
Personnel Technicians perform a wide variety of personnel activities including personnel records processing, recruitment and examining, new hire orientation, list certification, and payroll support duties.
Incumbents possess a degree of knowledge and proficiency sufficient to perform advanced-level work and may provide work direction and training to others.
THIS RECRUITMENT MAY CLOSE AT ANY TIME DEPENDING ON THE NUMBER OF APPLICATIONS RECEIVED* Duties will be in two main areas of UNLV Human Resources, the Salary Administration and Employment areas. Generalist duties will also be expected in other areas as requested. With respect to Salary Administration, the position will counsel campus users, triage, audit and process pay transactions for Letters of Appointment, Classified Staff and Hourly employees. Incumbent will assist with other pay transactions in peak periods and will routinely assist with records and public information requests. With respect to Employment, position will have significant duties in posting positions, screening applicants for all classified postings to include moving applicants to the appropriate status and levels in both NVAPPS and Consensus applicant tracking systems, track and code certification lists, coordinate and schedule examination testing to include requested job sampling. When escalated, position incumbent will provide front line assistance to applicants for employment by providing advice and counsel to walk-in and phone customers. Work schedule is 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM, Monday through Friday. Per the Nevada State Legislature, classified employees are subject to six (6) mandatory unpaid furlough days through 6/30/15. *UNLV is an Affirmative Action/Equal Opportunity educator and employer committed to excellence through diversity.

To Qualify:
In order to be qualified, you must meet the following requirements:
Education and Experience (Minimum Qualifications)
    Graduation from high school or equivalent education and two years of technical personnel/payroll experience which included researching information, applying rules and regulations, and problem solving in areas such as recruitment and examining, payroll, interviewing and selection, and other related personnel/payroll functions; OR one year of experience as a Personnel Technician II in Nevada State service; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience.
