The Position
Equipment Mechanics maintain, repair, and modify fleet equipment comprised of a variety of light, medium, and heavy automotive and maintenance equipment, landscape equipment, computerized testing equipment, and diesel-fueled electric power generators. 
--The University of Nevada, Reno is recruiting for an Equipment Mechanic 2 for Facilities Maintenance Services. The major purpose of this job is to perform duties to include scheduling preventative maintenance; diagnostic malfunctions; perform repairs including electrical, charging, starting, fuel, suspension, engine, transmission, air conditioning, body, brake, chassis, exhaust, drive axel, and heating and cooling systems.
--The typical work schedule is Monday through Friday from 7:00 am to 3:30 pm; this is subject to change based on organizational needs. Pursuant to Nevada Legislature, State of Nevada Classified employees are subject to a mandatory unpaid furlough requirement of six days (part-time prorated) per fiscal year effective July 1, 2013. To Qualify:
In order to be qualified, you must meet the following requirements:
Education and Experience (Minimum Qualifications)
    Completion of a recognized automotive/equipment repair apprenticeship program; OR completion of the Equipment Mechanic-In-Training program in Nevada State service; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Special Notes
    As part of the hiring process, applicants for positions in the Nevada System of Higher Education may be required to demonstrate the ability to perform job-related tasks.
Special Requirements
    A valid driver's license is required at the time of appointment and as a condition of continued employment.
    A pre-employment criminal history check and fingerprinting are required.
    Pursuant to NRS 284.4066, this position has been identified as affecting public safety. Persons offered employment in this position must submit to a pre-employment screening for controlled substances.
Additional Position Criteria
    This position is designated as Essential Personnel. In the event of a campus emergency, special event, closure to maintain campus safety or building operations, this position may be required to work outside of regularly scheduled hours.
