Accounting Assistants perform clerical accounting work in the maintenance of accounts and accounting records for State agencies.
Incumbents possess a degree of knowledge and proficiency sufficient to perform advanced-level work and may provide work direction and training to others. Incumbents function as first-line supervisors who train, supervise and evaluate the performance of assigned staff; assign and review work; and initiate disciplinary action.
This position primarily provides customer service/marketing/accounting, clerical and management support for the Parking & Transportation Service Office. The position also supervises the front desk operations, back office operations, and all cashier stations for the department. Duties include but are not limited to: staff scheduling, review and audit of daily receipts and deposits, develop, recommend and implement business policies and procedures for front desk operations, and assists in resolving customer service issues. Computer programs used are Microsoft Office, Microsoft Excel, Advantage, Data Warehouse, and the current version of parking software that the department is using at the time. This position requires confidentiality, discretion, superior interpersonal skills and the flexibility to work various shifts. In order to be qualified, you must meet the following requirements:

Graduation from high school or equivalent education and three years of progressively responsible clerical accounting experience which included duties such as responsibility for accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll and/or other accounting data; setting up computer spreadsheets to record, track, manipulate and report data; researching and interpreting financial data to prepare reports and respond to budget and accounts related inquiries; and reconciling accounts; OR one year as an Accounting Assistant II in Nevada State service which included clerical accounting duties as described above; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience.
