The Position
Auditors conduct audits on accounts, records, activities, operations and/or internal controls of individuals, business organizations, State agencies or other government jurisdictions subject to State taxation or regulation to ensure compliance with State and federal rules and regulations and legal requirements and/or proper safeguarding of agency funds.
Incumbents possess a degree of knowledge and proficiency sufficient to perform work independently with little or no additional training.
This position is located at Desert Regional Center (DRC) in Las Vegas. Duties of the position include: develop auditing protocols and conduct audits of programs funded by the agency, perform an annual review of agency internal controls, and manage the annual inventory of equipment. The primary responsibility of this position is to ensure that State funds are appropriately monitored and accurately reported in compliance with State and Federal rules, regulations, policies and statutes. To carry out this responsibility the person will develop and conduct audits on internal and community services programs including: Supported Living Services, Respite, and Jobs and Day Training. These services are provided by community based providers and paid for by Desert Regional Center. The incumbent will document all findings and prepare work papers and reports that summarize the audit findings and recommendations regarding provider billing procedures, improvements and modifications in order to standardize systems and/or practices, strengthen the integrity of the system and ensure compliance with all regulations and policies. Audit findings will be reported to applicable agency management, community service providers, and others as required. Experience in auditing, analysis and documentation of programs in a healthcare or social services setting is required.

To Qualify:
In order to be qualified, you must meet the following requirements:
Education and Experience (Minimum Qualifications)
    Graduation from an accredited four year college or university in accounting and one year of professional level auditing or accounting experience involving analyzing financial information and making recommendations based upon that analysis; OR one year of experience comparable to an Auditor I in Nevada State service; OR graduation from high school or an equivalent education and four years of auditing or accounting experience involving analyzing financial information and making recommendations based upon that analysis and six semester credit hours in accounting from an accredited institution; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience. NOTE: Minimal post-secondary coursework of six units in beginning accounting is required.

Special Requirements
    A valid driver's license or evidence of equivalent mobility is required at the time of appointment and as a condition of continued employment.
    A pre-employment criminal history check and fingerprinting are required. Persons offered employment in this position will be required to pay for these items.
    A State of Nevada/FBI background check will be required of the selected applicant.
    This position requires moderate travel.
    Transcripts of college credits are required.
Additional Position Criteria
    Experience in auditing, analysis and documentation of programs in a healthcare or social services setting is required.
