Custodial Workers perform general cleaning services to State facilities using various cleaning equipment and materials to provide a safe, hygienic and orderly work environment.
Incumbents possess a degree of knowledge and proficiency sufficient to perform advanced-level work and may provide work direction and training to others.
This position reports directly to the Custodial Supervisor 1, and requires the incumbent to perform custodial duties to clean and maintain sanitary conditions in and around the state-owned facilities located in Carson City, as assigned by the agency. This position ensures a clean, safe, and healthy environment for building tenants and the public. NOTE: Per NV State Legislature, State of Nevada Classified employees are subject to a mandatory unpaid furlough requirement of 48 hours per year (part-time prorated) through June 30, 2015.
In order to be qualified, you must meet the following requirements:
Education and Experience (Minimum Qualifications)
Graduation from high school or equivalent education and one year of custodial or janitorial experience in a commercial, industrial, hospital, governmental or similar environment; OR six months as a Custodial Worker I in Nevada State service; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Special Notes
Incumbents may be required to work extended hours, weekends, and holidays in addition to their normal work schedules.
Special Requirements
A valid drivers license is required at the time of appointment and as a condition of continuing employment.
Additional Position Criteria
Candidate must be willing to work varying schedules including day-shift, swing-shift, grave-yard and split-week shifts, weekends, and holidays as directed by the Division.
Candidate must be willing to work with and supervise inmate workers.
