Information Technology (IT) Professionals analyze, develop, implement, maintain, and modify computer operations, systems, networks, databases, applications, and/or information security. Incumbents may perform duties in one or more IT specialization areas depending on the needs of the agency.
Incumbents perform journey level duties and may serve as a lead worker to lower level IT staff as assigned.
Duties will include the following: Network System Administration: Installation of network servers, test and install network software and upgrades, manage daily server backup process, troubleshoot and resolve network connectivity issues, and install and manage switches. Network and Application Security: Manage network and application authentication for users including documentation of account set up and termination, install and maintain antivirus protection on servers and desktops, conduct routine tests to insure antivirus updates are active on all computers, and develop, maintain and test procedures for installing security patches. Senior Level Desktop Support: Provide technical support to employees to resolve complex software, hardware and network problems and manage software licensing to insure software licensing is in compliance with federal and state software piracy regulations. Maintain documentation related to the assigned IT specialization's architecture, operations, and other records of work activities as required.
Maintain current knowledge of technological trends and advancements in the IT field as well as security management practices, laws, policies, and ethics.
There is a 25% travel requirement.
In order to be qualified, you must meet the following requirements:

Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university with major course work in computer science, management information systems, or closely related field and two years of progressively responsible professional IT experience relevant to the duties of the position which may include computer operations, systems administration, network administration, database administration, and/or applications analysis and development; OR two years of experience as an IT Professional I in Nevada State service; OR four years of relevant technical experience as an IT Technician IV or above in Nevada State service; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience. |

A State of Nevada/FBI background check will be required of the selected applicant. Persons offered employment in this position will be required to pay for these items. |
