Military Security Officers provide security for Nevada National Guard facilities, armories, installations, military equipment displays, and training sites; provide protective services to federal and State property under the control of the Nevada National Guard; enforce applicable laws, regulations, and policies; and apprehend and detain offenders.
Military Security Officers provide security for Nevada National Guard facilities, armories, installations, military equipment displays, and training sites; provide protective services to State and federal property under the control of the Nevada National Guard; enforce applicable laws, regulations, and policies; and apprehend and detain offenders.
Under limited supervision, Military Security Officer 2's, in addition to performing the full range of duties outlined in the series concept, serve as first line supervisors who train, schedule, coordinate and evaluate the performance of subordinate Military Security Officer 1's on an assigned shift.
In order to be qualified, you must meet the following requirements:

Graduation from high school or equivalent education and three years of experience in the security field which included experience in serving as a team leader and security response leader; OR completion of a civilian or military law enforcement academy or certification as an industrial security specialist and two years of experience as described above; OR one year of experience as a Military Security Officer I in Nevada State service; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience. |

Incumbents must complete the law enforcement training provided by the agency within one year of appointment.

Incumbents must pass an agency prescribed physical fitness test within one year of appointment.
|
|
Pursuant to NRS 284.4066, positions in this series have been identified as affecting public safety. Persons offered employment in this series must submit to a pre-employment screening for controlled substances.

Applicants are required to undergo a background investigation prior to being considered for employment.
|
|
Applicants must be eligible for a Secret security clearance by the National Agency Check of the U.S. Department of Defense. |

Applicants must meet all legal requirements to carry firearms in the performance of official duties.

A valid driver's license is required at the time of appointment and as a condition of continuing employment.
|
|
Incumbents must maintain firearms qualification/certification standards and proficiency requirements as established by agency policy.

|
Some positions require work on evenings, weekends, and/or holidays. |
|
A State of Nevada/FBI background check will be required of the selected applicant.

|

The exam will consist of a rating of training and experience weighted 100%. It is essential that applications include extensively detailed information with time frames regarding education and experience. Your score will be based on the information provided in your application and your responses to the questions asked below. If there are several parts to a question, answer each part separately. Along with each answer, identify the position(s) and/or training (as described in your application) where you gained the background asked for in the question. Absence of experience/training asked for in a question is not necessarily disqualifying. Failure to answer the questions will result in a score based solely on the application.
