The Position
Vocational Rehabilitation Supervisors and Vocational Rehabilitation Counselors manage a caseload budget; determine eligibility or ineligibility; assess vocational rehabilitation needs; develop individualized plans for employment (IPE); coordinate the delivery of services; provide counseling and advocacy services; provide appropriate job placement; and determine employment outcome in order to minimize disabling conditions and reduce dependency for individuals whose mental or physical disability presents a barrier to employment and/or self-sufficiency.
Incumbents possess a degree of knowledge and proficiency sufficient to perform work independently with little or no additional training.
This position will be located at the Department of Employment, Training and Rehabilitation in our Las Vegas Vocational Rehabilitation office. This position is the lead counselor on a team that works with a specialty caseload; those who are deaf or hard of hearing and will communicate in American Sign Language. The incumbent will serve a caseload which has consistently been over 100 clients. This position will be responsible for meeting with clients, completing intakes, determining eligibility, providing services focused on assisting our clients with securing employment. A major objective for the incumbent will be to assist in a minimum of 28 clients to obtain successful competitive employment. Proof of eligibility to sit for the Rehabilitation Counselor Certification exam from the Commission on Rehabilitation Counselor Certification is required at the time of application. To Qualify:
In order to be qualified, you must meet the following requirements:
Education and Experience (Minimum Qualifications)
    Master's degree in rehabilitation counseling or health, social or other related behavioral science.
Special Requirements
    Proof of eligibility to sit for the Rehabilitation Counselor Certification exam from the Commission on Rehabilitation Counselor Certification is required at the time of application. Go to www.crccertification. com to view eligibility requirements.
    A pre-employment criminal history check and fingerprinting are required. Persons offered employment in this position will be required to pay for these items.
Additional Position Criteria
    This position requires the incumbent to be fluent in American Sign Language.
    This position will require proof of eligibility to sit for the Rehabilitation Counselor Certification exam from the Commission on Rehabilitation Counselor Certification is required at the time of application.

The exam will consist of an application evaluation. It is essential that applications include detailed information with time frames regarding education and experience.
