The Position
Administrative Assistants perform a broad variety of clerical, secretarial and administrative support duties in an assigned agency, program or other work unit within State government and the Nevada System of Higher Education.
--The University of Nevada, Reno Cooperative Extension Southern Area is recruiting for an Administrative Assistant 2 for Logandale. The incumbent will be responsible for reception and customer service at the front lobby; answering phones; assisting with administrative work overflow assignments from other departments; scheduling meetings, events, and classes on site both physically and through video conferencing; and other miscellaneous office duties.
--The typical work schedule is Monday through Friday from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm; this is subject to change based on organizational needs. Pursuant to Nevada Legislature, State of Nevada Classified employees are subject to a mandatory unpaid furlough requirement of six days (part-time prorated) per fiscal year effective July 1, 2013. To Qualify:
In order to be qualified, you must meet the following requirements:
Education and Experience (Minimum Qualifications)
    Graduation from high school or equivalent education and two years of clerical and administrative support experience which included experience in one or more of the following areas: maintaining records and files; preparing a variety of materials using a personal computer or word processor; assisting customers in completing forms and applications; and/or performing secretarial duties in support of professional staff; OR one year of experience as an Administrative Assistant I in Nevada State service; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience.

    As part of the hiring process, applicants for positions in the Nevada System of Higher Education may be required to demonstrate the ability to perform job-related tasks.
Special Requirements
    A State of Nevada/FBI background check will be required of the selected applicant.
Additional Position Criteria
    This position requires working in Logandale, NV.
    This position requires intermediate level experience using Microsoft Word in a business setting.
    This position requires intermediate level experience using Microsoft Excel in a business setting.
    This position requires experience providing front line customer service in an office environment, to include front lobby reception, customer service for staff as well as the public.
    This position requires experience scheduling meetings, events and classes.
The Examination
CLERICAL SUPPORT EXAM
The exam will consist of a written weighted 100%.
