The Position
Accounting Assistants perform clerical accounting work in the maintenance of accounts and accounting records for State agencies.
Incumbents possess a degree of knowledge and proficiency sufficient to perform work independently with little or no additional training. THIS RECRUITMENT MAY CLOSE PRIOR TO THE POSTED CLOSING DATE.
Southern Nevada Adult Mental Health Services (SNAMHS) currently has an opening in our Business Office located at 6161 W Charleston Blvd in Las Vegas.This position will work under the supervision of the Deputy Administrator and will assist in presenting data for the budget process and for grants. The successful applicant will be experienced and competent in developing reports in Microsoft Excel using graphs and pivot tables; developing and presenting data in PowerPoint; and participating on special projects as needed or required by supervisor. This is not an all-inclusive list of duties. This is a full-time position with an expected work schedule of 8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. Monday through Friday. Incumbent will be working an innovative-variable work schedule with overtime after 40 hours per week.

To Qualify:
In order to be qualified, you must meet the following requirements:
Education and Experience (Minimum Qualifications)
    Graduation from high school or equivalent education and two years of clerical accounting experience which must have included duties such as coding documents to distribute funds; preparing accounts payable and accounts receivable documents; using computer spreadsheets to record, track, manipulate and report data; balancing accounts; and identifying and applying established financial recordkeeping procedures; OR one year of experience as an Accounting Assistant I in Nevada State service; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Special Requirements
    A pre-employment criminal history check and fingerprinting are required. Persons offered employment in this position will be required to pay for these items.
Additional Position Criteria
    Experience preparing reports, data, and presentations using both Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint, including any experience using graphs and pivot tables.
    Experience assisting with monitoring budgets and/or assisting with grant budgets.
The Examination

CLERICAL SUPPORT EXAM
The exam will consist of a written weighted 100%.
