Community Based Instructors conduct a variety of outreach educational programs to individuals and/or groups of people in a variety of community settings, which may include schools, civic and senior centers, camps and other meeting facilities.
--The University of Nevada Cooperative Extension, Northern Area/Washoe County, is recruiting for a part-time Community Based
Instructor 2 in the Reno, Nevada office. The main purpose of this position is to assist with planning, implementing and evaluating a
non-formal educational program for school age youth in the 4-H After School Program. Duties include teaching lessons following
curriculum for enrichment programs, helping resolve conflicts between youth and families, coaching youth in decision making, and
encouraging them to participate in community service projects; maintaining records, documenting attendance, participating in regular
staff meetings, and performing other duties as assigned.
--This position works 19 hours per week, Monday through Friday between 2:30 p.m. and 6:00 p.m.; this is subject to change based
on organizational needs. This position is not benefits eligible and does not provide layoff rights. Pursuant to Nevada Legislature,
State of Nevada Classified employees are subject to a mandatory unpaid furlough requirement of six days (part-time prorated) per

In order to be qualified, you must meet the following requirements:

Graduation from high school or equivalent education and two years of relevant work experience in areas such as agriculture, horticulture, community development, health and nutrition, human and family development, and natural resources in urban and rural areas; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience. |

As part of the hiring process, applicants for positions in the Nevada System of Higher Education may be required to demonstrate the ability to perform job-related tasks. |

This position requires experience presenting a program to school age (5-12) youth. All employment and volunteer work instructing
school aged (5-12) youth will be considered and must be listed in the employment section of the application. |

This position requires work experience teaching or instructing in a learning environment. |

This position requires having a valid driver's license at time of appointment and as a condition of continued employment. |
|
Program participants may be bi-lingual in Spanish and English. |
