The Position
Program Officers administer a program or major component of a program by planning, coordinating and managing services and activities in accordance with legal and regulatory requirements and established program performance standards and objectives.
Incumbents possess a degree of knowledge and proficiency sufficient to perform work independently with little or no additional training.
The Program Officer 1 is located in our Central Services Division within the License Plate Factory at the Nevada State Correctional facility on East Fifth Street in Carson City. The primary function of this position is to work as the Supervisor for two DMV driver warehouse employees and inmates employed by the License Plate Factory. The Program Officer I will manage and maintain the raw material supplies and the distribution of all vehicle license plates, over 75,000 units per month, to all DMV offices and Assessor offices throughout the State. The incumbent also administers and submits the monthly performance indicators and statewide usage and inventory reports to the Central Services Administrator, which are then forwarded to LCB. The Program Officer 1 is responsible for the production scheduling; ensures quality control and safety for the factory; directing and scheduling the workload and cost expenditures for two DMV employees; development and technical training for all subordinates within the license plate factory; and ensuring commercial vehicles are properly maintained in accordance with existing safety standards. Additionally, the Program Officer I works closely with Corrections staff in the administration of payroll and good time credits of twenty or more inmate workers. The incumbent must be able to pass the Nevada Department of Corrections background check. Special Notes: Incumbents are subject to random testing for drugs and alcohol per Title 49 CFR Part 382 of federal regulations.

To Qualify:
In order to be qualified, you must meet the following requirements:
Education and Experience (Minimum Qualifications)
    Graduation from an accredited four year college or university in public administration or a related field; OR graduation from high school or the equivalent and four years of previous experience either performing or assisting in the planning, coordinating or administering of a program; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Special Requirements
    A valid driver's license or evidence of equivalent mobility is required at the time of appointment and as a condition of continuing employment.
    A pre-employment criminal history check and fingerprinting are required. Persons offered employment in this position will be required to pay for these items.
    A State of Nevada/FBI background check will be required of the selected applicant.
Additional Position Criteria
    This position requires that the incumbent possess or be able to obtain a Class A or B Nevada Commerical Drivers License within 6 months of hire.
    This position requires experience in Microsoft Excel, Word and Outlook.
